Swapping c20 from drum to disc, what year square has best brakes
I have a 68 GMC that I would like to convert to disc up front and I was just going to go get a complete drop out from a 73-87 c20. Are there any years in particular that have better components (bigger rotors/calipers)?
Thanks |

Re: Swapping c20 from drum to disc, what year square has best brakes
For my '67 , I took everything from a '76, C30 single rear wheel. Be sure and take all the brake lines from the coupling on the frame under the pass side foot well, forward all the way to the calipers and MC. Same coupling and location.
The newer lines put the Combination valve and the crossover lines on the cross member under the radiator. If you use the complete suspension cross member, be sure and get the frame reinforcement brackets on the inside of the frame rail, where the four bolts go through the side of the frame. As well as for reinforcement you can use it as a template. You have to drill one new hole and elongate another hole. You will be pleasantly surprised how many holes pre exist for the new hardware.
