cannot figure out what engine i have
Hello folks, I am having a difficult time reading the numbers on the plate behind my alternator for my engine suffix code, it is not the original engine. I believe it reads V0202PRT. I have looked in all the books and codes but cannot find the Suffix code for PRT or it maybe ART. The back of my engine has a casting # of 04010207 which is a 1980 to 1985 engine and the heads have a casting #14079261 which is a 1982 to 1985 engine. Anyone know what the two suffic codes i mentioned could be ? PRT or ART??? And also is there any trick to help raise the #'s in the plate behind the alternator so i can make the codes mor legible? Thank you for any help that you can give me Russ

Re: cannot figure out what engine i have
I believe PRT suffix is a GM replacement warranty engine code...350 2 bolt...
To raise the faint letters, clean the area and polish with 1200 wet and dry... Clean the area again with carb cleaner, then rub a lead pencil over the area... |
