Is this a good deal for rallys?

I'm in the market to purchase new wheels and tires for my project that desperately needs it. I came across a guy that's selling 4 275/60/15 on rallys with caps and rings and from the pics look really clean. He says tires have 95% tread and he's asking $600. My 72 short step is lowered I believe a 4/6 done by the PO and Im pretty sure the 275 would be too tall for the fronts but I figure I could get some 245s thrown on and have a set of the 275s to rotate on the back so total I'll be close to 900 for (almost) new shoes. Do I pull the trigger or see if I can talk the guy down some or scrap the idea completely?

Have you priced new tires in the sizes you want for front and rear? The tires that have 95 percent tread wear could still be old tires.

Also look at rally wheels for sale her or craigslist or something. I still see those pretty cheap all the time.

Just got to do a little comparison shopping.

I have a set of 8 inch rallies with 265/75/15's with a lot of tread also. The tires are old, just not a lot of miles. I've never thought about selling, but I'd take a lot less than $600 for them. Here's the point: rallies aren't rare, aftermarkets aren't expensive, and with that much drop you may need a certain size tire. Take your time and calculate exactly what you need. You could buy all new rallies, and the tires you need and stay under $1200 with full warranty, perfect fit, and peace of mind. However, if money is tight...

What size and backspacing are the rims?

I didn't like how the 8" looked on the front of my truck, I thought they stuck out too much compared to the rear, so I swapped to a 7" up front.





15x8 rear, 15x7 front. 235/70/15 rear, 215/75/15 fronts. Truck is dropped 4/6.

275's are a wide tire (10.8") are they on 9.5-10" wheels?

Thanks for the input guys.. here's some pics of them. 67ChevyRedneck they are 8s.. thinking about it overnight I might pass on them and further research before I just slap something on my ride.

That tire is 28-28.5 inches tall, it would probably fit ok. I looked them up and they sell at $100 apiece, so you could actually get that exact setup for under $1000 all brand new.
Edit: I guess the wheel vintiques 15x8's are a little more than I thought. $145 each+$29 for rings+caps, so they would be close to $200 each fully outfitted.

Ask the guy the purchase date for the tires. And haggle. And, if I decided to take a chance on them, I would test fit them in his driveway and go for a spin before pulling the trigger. I actually did that on a set of Z71 wheels and 275/70/18 Nitto grapplers that were in almost new condition for my Silverado. That deal worked out great, just be careful.

Wheel vintiques has 8's and 10's. Not sure about 7's. And rings. Caps can be had on ebay pretty cheap
