Were door hinges painted from the factory?
I am getting ready to rebuild my door hinges, and was wondering if they were painted the body color from the factory? I thought I read somewhere on the forum that they were not painted, but have been unable to find any threads that mention it. I will be stripping the paint off of them during rebuild, and will prime them if they will eventually need to be painted.
I was very fortunate to buy a GM J-25585 9/16 hinge wrench on ebay for $14.99 with free shipping last week, so I won’t need to remove the fenders to do the job. The description was wrong but I jumped on it because the GM p/n was correct. Score!!! |

Hinges were painted body color. Latch striker plates were black phosphate or parkerized... not painted.
