As it should be. You pulled off a truly custom concept that really worked out. You must have had plenty of conversation on it. '69 Camaros are one of the all time popular favorites and you did them justice as well as your truck. I love that first picture. Looks like you are lined up to blow the doors off that Falcon.

Re: 1st car show under the belt!

Funny, I did my first car show today too. Really it was not intentional, I was hauling stuff to Reid Park for my local union's booth at the Labor Day Picnic. By coincidence a car club was hosting a car show at the parking lot of the same park.
I was half kidding when I asked if I could enter my Sixty Eight C/10 Stepside in the show. "Absolutely", they said. It was free. So I backed it into a slot and popped the hood up.
Of course this is a daily-driver work truck with some rare L6 goodies under the hood, otherwise an all-stock fleet-purchase truck: stock stance, stock body, factory paint [I think the kids call that "Patina" now.] And like George Washington's Axe [which is ''all original'', only had the haft replaced 4 times, and the head twice] has the Original 292 engine -- Only rebuilt once.
I didn't even spray wash it, the truck still had dust on it. Since I had duties over at my Union's booth, I couldn't stand by the truck the full morning, but I sauntered back and forth and talked with a few good folks.
Saw a lt blue '69 GMC fleetside, the guy said was his Grandfather's. Another guy had a green '67 Chevy stepside with a 250 that was also his grandad's.
There was a hugger orange stepside there, too but I didn't meet the driver.
No prizes were offered for most beat-up looking working man's pickup. I guess I was in a class of my own, but it was fun and I met some good people.

Re: 1st car show under the belt!

I like your truck. Hey, you do realize next year your truck will be due for it's second rebuild, whether it needs it or not (I always liked that signature). I ordered the '92 GMC I had and also had a '72. I used to say I buy a new truck every 20 years whether I need one or not. Well, I made myself a liar because I didn't get a '12 and I'm sure that '92 was my last new truck. Died in '14 with 335k on it.

Thanks, Special K. Actually the 292 in it now was rebuilt in 2005, but I started the project in 2002, 25 years after a rebuild while on active duty at MCAS Yuma in 1977. [And there ain't nothing to do in Yuma in the summer, but build engines.]
As per my time table, the 292 will not need a rebuild until 2030.

I still have the '67 core 292 I rebuilt in 1977, and could go .040 or .060 overbore on its next 'incarnation'. I have another '63 292 core. A parts store clerk's barnfind kickout. He bought the block off a V8-crazed farmer just to hi-grade it for the Chevrolet script valve cover. Still in 1963 MY Alpine Green.
Sold it to me for $100, maybe 15 years ago. Could possibly just be inspected and reassembled to running condition. But I'd feel safer with a .030 overbore, 1968 12-lobe 292 crank, and general rebuild.

Projects in the wings are:
a) '67 K/10 Suburban ["White Fang"] had a 454 engine fire and a leaky TH350. Not too fond of a BBC rebuild with gas going up again. Maybe a hypo'd 292? Or diesel conversion. TH700R4 or [w/diesel] Allison.

b) '72 Chevy K/5 [''Phantom of the Junkyard"] Blazer body. Very beat up surfer-surplus K/5 bought as a parts truck. Just a tub. No Engine, no doghouse, no top, no tailgate, no tranny, no registration. PO surfers welded a kangaroo catcher on the front frame horns and probable ran it w/o front end sheet metal. Salt water corrosion holes in rear bed are patched with JB Weld and flattened out Pepsi cans. Other drawback is the rear end 12-bolt pumpkin was a 3.08. Haven't looked into the D44 front.

By a fortunate chance a former fellow Marine, one-time racing enthusiast and union brother from PHX, gave me a whole set of '70-'72 doghouse sheetmetal. Hood, 2 doors, cowl panel, 1 pr fender skirts, 1 pr Chevy fenders [post '69], radiator wall, instrument panel and glovebox door -- just to clear it out of his yard. I couldn't take the cab with my Stepside, and never went back there for it. He cut it down much later.
He also gave me some rollbars.
Phantom plans include a 292 L6, [I have the diagonal K- frame mount.] SM465/T221, in a rough cut desert rat rod, with ragtop or bikini over the rollbar.
I'll have to dig up 3.73 differential/axles front and back.
