"Factory" truck you don't have, but would like?

For me a 67 SWB fleetside in light blue or a 71 SWB stepside in hugger orange. I can't really choose one of the two, but either way, add BBC and A/C.

An early Longhorn (step or fleetside) or a '67-8 K20 panel...

Re: "Factory" truck you don't have, but would like?

The truck my uncle purchased new.
The 1970 in my signature line with my mother standing next to it.
Many great memories with that truck up on the property in PA plus the trip up and back.

Yeah, I'd go with Tony's choices and/or a black 68 w/396 and red interior. Yup, that'd do it.

Don't blame you. You can't beat black and white. Suddenly I'm having visions of black bottom, white top & top belts for my 71 project......HA. Near 30 years and I still haven't settled on a color scheme, but leaning white/ochre/white. Was white/ochre.

Never heard of one. This is sure nice: https://www.streetmachine.com.au/fea...-hq-one-tonner

I may have mentioned it once, but I hear 71 Mazda RX2 are quite popular in Australia. My first car was one on a stick. There's nothing like a Mazda RX2 on a stick. Cool appearance, great sound, beautiful interior, handles well, fun & real fast. Shame I totaled it. Only had it three months. I'd think I'd own another, but replacement parts must be unrealistic, and from little I know, they're not that dependable. Last I saw one was more than a few decades ago. It was junked in someone's yard near Virginia City.

Re: "Factory" truck you don't have, but would like?

Well, if a guy could dream...

A '70 C/30 long bed step side with a 454/400/3.55 and every option available, except where an option is superseded by another. Can't have an AM/FM radio along side an AM/FM radio with an 8-track player, for example. Oh, and leave off those bumper guards. Was a 454 available then? I worked for a Chevy dealer at the time, and tried to sweet talk the new car sales manager into ordering a Nova with an LT-1. It could happen, with the right connections. Guess mine weren't good enough.

Nope, 454 didn't make it into trucks until '73.

I have that same picture saved. Just like that would be my 2wd shortbed choice. I can do that because the other truck I mentioned is a Panel and 4wd. You can't just pick one when there were so many offered for different uses/needs.

I would pick a favorite pickup in C/10-30 (3), K/10-20 (2), cab & chassis in C/20-30 (2), Suburban (1), Panel (1), and K/5 (1). That's narrowing it down because that doesn't cover all the variations or C & K or 10/20/30. And I'm using Chevy IDs when I'd prefer to have all GMC! But I'd be happy with just those 10!

I remember talking to a gal at Golden State when Seth and Meredith owned it. She was saying she was trying to get one from all the years and I said me too but first trying to get one of each model within the 67-72s. Funny how back then that was actually realistic. I got up to about 75%!!

Flatbeds are fairly common down there mate? I've seen a number of them.

Re: "Factory" truck you don't have, but would like?

68 K20 CST Custom Camper 327/TH400 with Marker Lamps, free-wheeling hubs, and, of course, tow hooks (so I can sell them here and send a kid to college) in two tone 535 off-white over dark green with a fawn interior (but I'd settle for Vermillion...).

Now, since we're talking "factory" - who can spot the flaw in my "factory" ordered truck?

FWIW, I've only ever seen ONE(!) 68 K20 Custom Camper in the wild - and that was only in a picture, thanks to SS Tim... (see Pic #1). Pic #2 is a K10 for ref in the color combo. I BELIEVE the steelies should be black.

Re: "Factory" truck you don't have, but would like?

I'm totally happy with the '69 CST 3/4 ton I purchased 48 years ago. Factory buckets, console, A/C, and everything needed for a Custom Camper nameplate (but no nameplate). I've added a factory tach, AM/FM, and shoulder belts. I can't think of any other option I'd want, and if I bought anything else, I'd feel like I was betraying a family member.

Re: "Factory" truck you don't have, but would like?

I've had a lot of special 67-72 GM Trucks, mostly K/20s and K2500s with exceptional options. But also C/10-30s, Blazers, and Suburbans. The one that has evaded me is any 4wd Suburban or Panel. I'd love to have either, but a Custom K/20 Panel would be my #1 desire. Has been forever. In recent years I'd raise that bar to it being a GMC! I wouldn't turn a base trim model down either.

Hey 71CHEYENNESUPER402, You'd have to settle for a 327 on that factory '67.

No 396 in a 67 huh? Same applies to 68? 327 isn't a bad option.

'68 and you're good to go!...From factory that is. Heck, in '67 GMC didn't offer V8 till near the end of the year the way I understand it. I think only the 327. Could be wrong. I forget better than remember these days. But no 396 in trucks till '68 for sure..... Right guys? Nah, I'm sure about that one.

I like them all. But right now a K2500 would be on the top of my list.
