1972 chevy c10 dash lights help
Some one please help im lost. I got a 1972 chevy c10 and none of the dash lights light up. I got power to the switch but when putting a test light to the green wire on the switch its dim I figure I got a bad ground somewhere anyone able to give me a idea where as I cant find it? No power at the fuse box either Im totally lost as to where the bad spot is.

If it's just the lights that illuminate the cluster...
Have you checked the variable resistor/spring on the shaft end of the light switch? If the knob is not rotated occasionally, corrosion may form. The spring/resistor can also break. This would affect all the cluster illumination lights and is possibly the easiest thing to check. I'd start by just rotating the knob back and forth several times prior to pulling the switch. If this doesn't work, you'll need to do more complex troubleshooting. Here's a picture that shows the variable resistor. |
