1970 C10 restoration completed
This is a re-post of my '70 build since photobucket no longer supporting pics for free.
I finally got my restoration complete and I'm on the road. 3 months of a lot of work but well worth it! The truck was in pretty good shape. some rust not much and very solid for the most part. I wanted to thank all here for the great advise, tips, and guidance I received. What a great resource this is. First up was a freshing up of the top end of the engine. HEI dist, intake, 600 edelbrock carb, valve seals, covers, etc. 60 degrees in Cleveland in February!!?? shut off the shop furnace and cut that sucker in half outside. Used the brothers kit which is pricey but made the process very simple. although FYI their cab mount measurement for the template is off by 1/2" stripped off the anodizing coating from the grille with hair/grease drain cleaner and a scotch bright pad. then sanded all the way up to 2000 grit wet and buff. Lastly coated the bare aluminum with protectaclear (great stuff btw). next turned my attention the interior re dyed all the interior panels, dash pad, steering wheel, etc. originally was a dark green, laid new carpet and installed houndstooth cover. interior spray with Dupont single stage. stripped off all the body panels, fenders doors, hood, etc. and sprayed them in base coat clear coat at my work booth, again DuPont products. Being a cabinet maker by trade I'm comfortable in a booth and just took my time. auto paint is quiet different than lacquer and poly wood clears.I've spray 2 other trucks in the past and each time got a little better with it. overall happy with the results wetsand, buff and install the trim shot the wheels in a single stage pewter color laminate over exterior ply, cost $0, see how it holds up. on the road on fathers day. each one of my kids got a ride in the old truck. great day. got the truck for $2,200 and put $6,000 into it, ($2,000 of that was in shortening the bed and new bed sides/shipping, kit etc) so total investment of $8,200 and I finally got my old C10 I've always wanted. I'm a happy guy! Finished truck.

Finally got around to checking out your truck, beautiful! I really want to shoot single stage on mine as well (adding the white center too), it looks so classic.
