Identifying Carbs
Can anyone show some light on identifying the correct year and model of carbs for our trucks by the number codes? I'm trying to find the correct carb for my 1965 1/2 ton 283 with powerglide transmission. What make carb would have come on my truck? Thanks in advance.

Re: Identifying Carbs
Original carb would have been a Rochester 2GC. Used on all 2 barrel 283's.

Re: Identifying Carbs
Look for a metal tag hanging off the front. Will have the part number and date on it. Many times when these were rebuilt over the years the tag was removed

Re: Identifying Carbs
Thanks for replying and the good info. I was thinking it would have been a 4 barrel carb. Looks like not so.

Re: Identifying Carbs
Took a look at the intake that the previous owner handed to me, that was on the motor when he purchased the truck. Was painted grey. Casting number is 3905398. And a 4 barrel intake. So I took a knife and scraped the paint, and there is original orange paint underneath the grey. Looks like I've been holding on to an intake that is doing me no good. Glad I ask here on the forum. Not sure what it's from. Anybody know?
