Re: Vin Question

The fourth & fifth digits should both be numbers. Fleetside designation would be listed in the model number, not the VIN.

the 6th digit is the mfg plant (Z = Freemont)

Sleeper, CS157OD is a model number or the first half of a 1967 GMC Vin.
C = 2wd
S = I-6
1 = 1/2 ton
57 = 115' WB shortbed
OD = wideside bed (Fleetside)
EDIT Just noticed you said your SPID stated panoramic. So that means you have a 1967 GMC. CS157OD is both your model number and the first half of your VIN.

Thanks so it is a GMC. That would explain the leaf rear.

jpmanyhearts, if you have a 68 or 69 you should have a B or C after the Z.
The Z is for Freemont assembly plant and A is 1969 or B is 1968. You might not have a dash or space in yours.

Re: Vin Question

Bought this 4x4 from a neighbor/friend with the intention of restoring it or making a rat rod out of it. He had rolled it a long time ago, and ended up putting a Chevy body on the GMC frame.

this is what the guy told me so is the vin i have the gmc vin or the chevy vin when i crossreferenced the vin on bruceman1968 the chevy vin didnt match up but the gmc vin did

KE1ODZ is GMC. Chevrolet did NOT use OD as a code for the Bed style. GMC used it from 1967 to 1969 (and before 67). But KE1ODZ is not the whole VIN. Your missing the year and the serial number. Here is a correct 68-69 GMC vin decoder so you can see what's missing.

Re: Vin Question

Yes look again,
Z = Fremont assembly
A = 1969

Edit You should have a space/dash between the O and the Z. If not no problem just disregard the space/dash. The Z is your assembly plant code.
