Blazer offroad/ Camping Accessories

I've seen a lot of rides dressed up for trail riding and I'm ready to throw some extras on my 72. My question for all you experienced guys out there, is what parts is everyone running for offroading. I'm looking at spare tire rack, roof rack, saddle tanks, and maybe one of those newfangled fold out roof tent and awning. Definitely a winch as well. Has anyone put a roof tent on an old Blazer? And what else is everyone else running.
Best regards,
Hunter

Re: Blazer offroad/ Camping Accessories

I don't own a Blazer but I hope this thread takes off. I really enjoy reading the threads of the people that use their Blazers and Burbs for off road camping adventures.

Hey Cleazkie - man I love that k5, looks like you have a lot of fun with it.

Have you done/can you do a write up on the sm465/gear vendors overdrive combo? I'd like to hear your opinion on it. Thanks!

Re: Blazer offroad/ Camping Accessories

Tomo - I haven't done a write-up. Its a pretty simple installation. The Gear Vendors bolts onto the back of the NP205 with an adapter (only have overdrive/underdrive in two wheel drive). I used a CV joint with a 300 series slip yoke out of a Cadillac to keep things as short as possible when building the rear driveshaft. The driveshaft is relatively short, especially with the larger 14 bolt rear axle, but it has a pretty small angle in the CV joint because I don't have a big lift. Runs smooth.

^^^ I wondered how long it would take you to chime in. I think yours is about as well-equipped as they come for some off-road camping.

California doesn't allow ownership of .50 CAL. But don't worry, there is plenty of other firepower stashed below deck!
