Tilt column collar? 67-72
Does anyone know of a source for a tilt column trim/shift collar for a pickup that came with floor shift? The only ones I find are for column shift.
Thanks |

Re: Tilt column collar? 67-72
I only know of one source that had a few OEM ones. He got them from a GM supplier sale years ago. He didn't want to sell any but I talked him into selling me a set, collar and bowl for $250. Wasn't cheap but correct NOS quality GM parts. He couldn't believe I remembered he had them through a conversation we had a few years before. We where discussing hard to find parts then when he mentioned it. In the picture below is the OEM floor shift tilt collar and bowl (black parts). The red parts are OEM non-tilt collar and bowl. If you can find these parts you can convert a GM auto tilt column to floor shift tilt which is what I did. Hopefully someone else knows of another source available.

I don't suppose you would happen to know the part numbers for those tilt parts?

Yes, they exist. Just hard to find. Here are a couple more pictures for reference.

Thanks. All I really need is the non-shift bowl. The other part looks the same as one for a column shift. I may end up just shaving the shift nub off of mine and doing some body work on it.

I may already have what I need. Seeing your photos made me think about a non tilt column from a floor shift truck I had. I went and looked at it and sure enough. I will see if it will work. I see no reason it wouldn't.

Re: Tilt column collar? 67-72
The used floor shift tilt columns do come up for sale every now and then in places. Or if you're okay with aftermarket parts you can buy a whole new floor shift column $300-$500. And then there are threads on here showing how guys in past have done similar what you're thinking of doing. Everybody has different opinions, ideals and situations. If your auto tilt column is OEM, you may want to sell it and get a van tilt to modify or buy new.

Re: Tilt column collar? 67-72
FYI: Any 1968 floor shift GM car used the same tilt parts, Plus I have even found them in GM powered motorhomes

Thanks. I have see others that looked pretty much the same. I used to have one in my '68 that came from a '66 Riviera. Only difference was there was no indicator in the correct spot.
