1954 Column Shifter Lever Fell off
Today I was driving down the road and my column shifter lever just came loose from the prong that it is fastened to. It looked like some rivets hold this in place in the top and the bottom and somehow a spring connects to it. How do I reconnect this shifter knob back onto the prong? Are there special fasteners, rivets, etc. Didn't find anything on Classic Chevy parts, ebay, or anywhere else.
Thanks Faberm Navasota, Texas |

Re: 1954 Column Shifter Lever Fell off
I thought they had a pin though them and the rod but could be mistaken. I think way back in the 60's I replaced the pin in one in shop class in high school on a customer rig but that was over 50 years ago.

There is a funny shaped spring that reminds you of one of those spring loaded paper clip arms. The ends push out two buttons that lock the lever on. http://www.oldchevytrucks.com/cart/p...0&i=19554|||||
