1972 Cheyenne 454 bucket seats from factory

I have ran up on this ruck and may have an opportunity to buy it. I have always wanted a Cheyenne and have been watching this one for a while and it has come up for sale. It has some minor damage to one front fender and some trim where it had a small run in with a pole but otherwise it's pretty straight. As stated it is a factory 454 truck with buckets and console, factory A/C and everything is there. The owner passed away and it has been sitting for about a year but looks to be a good solid truck. It was restored about 10 years ago I think. Whats the rarity of this truck and what kind of decent price would I be looking at to buy it. It should be running and driving with very minor work but the motor does use some oil.

First off, the big block in '72 was a 402. No 454 until the introduction of the square body in '73.

Re: 1972 Cheyenne 454 bucket seats from factory

Maybe I jumped the gun. I thought it was legit. The engine is a 454 and the badging is on the fenders. I have not had a chance to really get into it yet but I hope to tomorrow.

The badges are reproduction. Good luck proving originality on a 40 plus year old truck

Post a picture of the label inside the glove box door if you can. Also make sure the VIN number on the label, the plate on the door jamb, and the title all match.

Almost all big block engines use oil, the 454 I put in my '67 short bed did and so did the one in my '67 long bed....

Well, the paper is gone from the glove box so no luck. I wound up buying it anyway a long with another 454 included with the deal.

Re: 1972 Cheyenne 454 bucket seats from factory

Pic's to come. Its on a roll back headed this way. I feel like I got a heck of a deal on this package. The truck is in pretty good shape but the fender and grill need some attention. The interior is in good shape but outdated. Lot's of small things need attention but I hope to fire it off this weekend. I never thought I would be able to afford one of these Cheyennes but the bill of sale is in my pocket...

Re: 1972 Cheyenne 454 bucket seats from factory

That looks very good....if I were you I'd be all over that.
I would definitely put a (new) front bumper on it.
The most promising thing about that from a 'buyers standpoint' is the fact that is appears to be a little dirty and neglected which implies the owner might have better things to do these days.
This means that you might be able to get a better deal on it.
Don't worry too much about the originality of the motor...if its a big block and a 454 that is a great engine to have in it.

...if the price is right, get on it.

Re: 1972 Cheyenne 454 bucket seats from factory

Well it's bought and paid for and sitting outside my shop in the pic's. I also got another 454 in the deal that I got to go pick up tomorrow that only has about 5000 miles on it. The guy that builds my engines built both of these and actually put me on this truck. The guy that had it passed away a few months ago and I bought it from his son. There were no key's to it so I had to buy a new tumbler and will try and fire it off tomorrow but man it's cold outside.
