Recovering missing SPID
Hey everyone, my name is Alex and I'm new to the form. I've recently purchased a couple of trucks a 1969 long bed c10 and a 1971 K10 short bed. The K10 is missing the glove box door so I have no SPID to see what options the truck came with. Is there a way I can get that information from the vin? The vin is KE141S624756 thanks!

Re: Recovering missing SPID
Unless there is a factory build sheet is still stashed under the seat cushion or somewhere else in the cab unfortunately no. However If the truck was built in Canada you can probably get that info. None of the info exists for the US built trucks.

Re: Recovering missing SPID
Check the manufacturing plant. VIN tells you but I don't know offhand, like Z is Fremont. S is probably St Louis as a guess but I don't know. On the VERY small chance it was built at the Oshawa plant then they'd still have the records (Canada kept them). All the US data is long gone.

KE141S624756 K=4 wheel drive E=V8 4=pickup 1=1971 S=St Louis Plant 624756 is serial number. Unfortunatley thats the extent of what the VIN provides.

Re: Recovering missing SPID
You might check around the gas tank. Some people have found the build sheet behind the tank cover or the tank.

Re: Recovering missing SPID
Well here's the situation. I purchased the truck from a gentalman who decided he was going to do a full frame off restoration on the truck and got as far as tearing it down and lost interest in it. So I brought home a frame, a cab, a bed and about 15 boxes of parts and after going through everything im missing the glovebox door and a few other odds and ends. The cab is automatic with a/c, pb, and ps. It also has a headliner in it with a cargo light and chrome around all the windows and the back glass is a sliding one. I just wish I had a SPID to see what trim package the truck came with. The front fenders have been changed so I can't go by the fender badges.
