Towing question.
I have a 2wd and thus, no holes for tow hooks. If my truck needed a tow, would it be safe to attach a tow strap ("snatch strap") around the front bumper, as close to a frame horn as possible?
If a brush guard was on my front, would it be safe to do the same thing from there, where the guard attaches to the front bumper? |

I have put a strap around the v-shaped front cross member. Worked well and no worries about bending anything.

Do not go putting straps around x-members---that is how they get bent. If you need an attachment point install a hook or build an appropriate bumper

I have seen hooks welded or bolted on the bottom of the guard where it is attached to the bumper.

Always pull from a point on the frame rail, same as tow hooks. I have seen 2wds drilled for tow hooks. You can drill your frame for tow hooks. If you use a brush guard it will interfere with frame mounted hooks, so mount hook to guard. But it's best to weld a tube between uprights/mounting plates. I've seen them bend right in from a hook being pulled

If possible I would use the lower A-arm. Do not pull on the cross members.
