Talking Going up Hwy 11

This is a 2 lane road that follows the Mts of SC & NC along the foothills. I took the 71 up to Shelby NC to pick up a new circuit board for the ramp trucks dash.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Going up Hwy 11

Good ole US11. That road runs from way up in NY all the way to New Orleans. Actually continues into Canada as another route#. I love that road in my area from VA, WVA, MD, and PA. One of "The Old Roads". Cool video. Thanks!

Yeah, that's a long road. Runs right thru my neck of the woods on the southern end.

Does that road parallel I 81 in Virginia? If so, then I have been on it and plan to use it when I get my truck driving and take it up to see a friend in Martinsburg, WV.

I have no idea man. It goes from the Ga/SC state line to Gaffeney SC from there I have no idea. This is senic highway 11 it's not the same highway ya'll are speaking of.
History
The current highway was once part of the "Cherokee Path" or "Keowee Path," this road was the route used by the Cherokee Indians and the English and French fur traders and stretched from Tennessee to Charleston, South Carolina. This National Scenic Byway winds its way through The Upstate and passes through some towns, such as Walhalla, Marietta, Campobello, Chesnee, and Gaffney. Echoes of the area's Cherokee heritage can still be heard in places and river names like Seneca, Savannah, Keowee, Jocassee, Enoree, Toxaway, Tugaloo, Tokena, and Eastatoee.

In the city of Gaffney, east of I-85, SC 11 is known as "Floyd Baker Boulevard," which is a well-known street name in The Upstate. This section of SC 11 is a vast contrast to the rest of the route. At this point the highway becomes heavily congested and developed. Gaffney is also the biggest town along the route.

This is the one ya'll are talking about. It doesn't even come to SC!

These trucks run better when 70's and 80's rock is on the radio.

Oops, sorry. I thought you meant US11 because that is a great road to drive as well. So this is SC11, a local hiway.

That is a plus for me because my truck is keeping the 4.11 and 3OTT...not that I go over 55 mph on the interstate anyway in my Honda.

My 71 has 4:10 gears in it and it does fine with the 4l80E in it!

Yes to both. I have been buying parts from Tommy over 30 years. Yes Jason has done some nice work at his place.
In fact I took Tommy by Jasons before I drove him back to Anderson to pick up his truck.

US Highway 11 is a cool ride through the western part of VA. I've driven along a lot of it. It's Main Street through Radford VA, where i went to school and also is Main Street through Harrisonburg VA, where my daughter now goes.

Nice video and photos Andy - thanks for sharing. I'm in NC at my son's place for Christmas. Love the roads down here - two lane pine lined roads with lots of twisties. About 5 years ago, we brought the Harley down in the Toyhauler and camped near Asheville. Rode well over a hundred miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway which is absolutely gorgeous. It is a National treasure that everyone should experience. Merry Christmas to all.

Yes the parkway is one of the greatest things God created on this earth. It's not called God's country for nothing!

Merry Christmas!

The Parkway is beautiful but God didn't make it. He made the mountains it runs the ridges of and man built the road so we can appreciate it. We have Skyline Drive closer up here in VA. So many scenic hiways in the Blue Ridges & Smokies to name. But any road is a good one. Heck, I-40 through the mountains isn't bad. But all the 2-lanes are good.

That sir is incorrect. God makes everything weather by his hand are someone else. God is the maker of all things.

Re: Going up Hwy 11

I've driven part of the SC 11 state road, as well as SC 28, US 19, US 64/74, and many of the Western NC highways. Always fun. US 11/11W/11E from VA through Bristol, TN all the way through Knoxville, down into Etowah and Chattanooga, then down into GA is a great drive. 11W passes through Rogersville, TN, where my parents grew up. Before the interstate, 11W was the main road from Kingsport, TN and Knoxville, TN The old 2 lane part of the highway had lots of turns and blind hills because it flowed with the landscape instead of cutting through like the modern 4 lane parts. There used to be so many wrecks, it was nicknamed Bloody 11W. It's great listening to my dad talk about the heavy traffic from the travelers, and commercial trucks driving through downtown during his childhood in the 50's and 60's before they built the 4 lane bypass.

Talking Re: Going up Hwy 11

Hwy 28 is one of the most curviest roads I have ever drove on and it is a heavily traveled road today. Some nice backroads are just in the western parts on SC,NC and east Tenn. for sure.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
