72 Wheel Well Trim/Fender Moulding
I would love to trim out the wheel wells on my 72, but it seems that my tastes tend to lead me down dead end paths. The only option I have found are the ones from LMC that are not the traditional thin SS edge trim like I have on my 67 GTO and 67 Mustang. My truck will have the two runs of trim along the side and I would love to trim out the well edges around the wheels without getting too bold like the attached photo shows (from LMC).
My patch panel'd bedsides leave a bit to be desired at the wheel well edges and I would like to hide it all. AND I do not want to go with aftermarket flares as I will be keeping my tires tucked underneath. Do I have any other options?

Put the lower 67-8 trim on bottom and upper from 69-72. I want to do this as the lower trim looks so nice! I dont care for the add-on stuff pictured myself.

I second the 67/68 lower trim with the 69-72 upper trim. I think the factory style stuff looks best on these trucks, and this will give you a custom look that still looks like it could have come from the factory. GM actually prototyped this combo on the proposed 50th anniversary truck. Here's a promotional photo from my development/concept thread:
Of course we know they would hold off on the upper trim for '68, but would eventually use it in '69. Those LMC moldings reminded me of an early '67 trim design that GM proposed but did not use. It has the wheel well trim running all the way down to the bottom of the fenders. You can see it here at the bottom of the page: This doesn't do you much good for actually finding something sleek like you originally mentioned, but it does at least give you an idea of what it would look like.

Now, that's an idea. I will have to inventory my trim and check it's condition. I'm willing to bet that I am only missing a couple of pieces and will have a hard time convincing myself to spend the extra money for the change. I should also do some image searches to see if anyone has done this and what it looks like. It appears that the 67-8 lower trim is more narrow than my original lower trim and that may look too different for me. Thanks for the idea Shiny!

I looked at that aftermarket trim once briefly. Even a Ford-loving friend I had told me not to do it! I do like the stock trim, though. I'd really like to get that back on my truck at some point.

Fantastic info Hew! I really appreciate the photos. I am definitely going to check into the 67/8 lower trim. And, now that I see the full wheel well trim and the lower trim in the GM proposed photo, I'm not so sure I like that.
