How do door poppers work?
if I wanted to shave my handles and put door poppers on. How hard would it be? How exactly do they open the door? Do they mount next to the factory latch, then pop it off the striker-bolt, then you can open the door?

"Door Poppers" are just 12v actuators, or coils with a plunger in the middle. When you apply 12v they create a magnetic field that pulls the metal plunger inside the coil.
It works under the same principal as a power door lock. The plunger is hooked to a rod that pulls your door latch mechanism just like your door handle did before. It depends on the application as to how they are mounted, and connected to the latch mechanism. I have seen a washer welded to the stock linkage, a cable hooked to the stock linkage, and many different custom set ups too. It takes some fab skills, but it's not "too" hard.... |

Custom Classic (A "Preferred Vendor" on FSC) offers a kit for our trucks that uses the stock door latch. I am going to upgrade to this kit soon.
