Which fuel sending unit?
Can you use a 2 or 3 port fuel sending unit to replace a 1 port and just put rubber caps on the unused ports or is that a bad idea? Are they engine specific or just advancements in technology that they put into later models?

Re: Which fuel sending unit?

It looks like it has been tampered with.... As long as the fitting for the fuel line connection is the same it will work fine. Just cap off the vent and return outlets and run a vented gas cap. Make sure the replacement has the filter sock on the end of the pickup tube. I don't know what that monstrosity is on the end of yours. Be sure and check the capped off outlets once in a while to make sure the caps haven't deteriorated...... LockDoc

Re: Which fuel sending unit?
So does it physically not fit (larger or smaller) or just not the same.
You might need to rebuild yours. |

Re: Which fuel sending unit?
Personally, I'd hold off for the right one. Single line is available, for a 71 tank anyway. Seems they'd mount the same on 67-72 cab tanks, but can't swear to it. I got one through Classic Heartbeat.
