72 c30 dump with tool boxes

Hi

First post. Just bought my first Chevy and have started to work towards getting it road worthy. This first week has been interesting as nothing listed for this truck tends to add up to what the parts store says should be there.

Anyhow here is a pic. I have had trouble finding info on dump models with tool boxes so thought id post a pic and see if anybody has thoughts on dealing with this model.

thanks. the raised part on the hood is bolted on and will eventually be removed.

need more pics of the interior , engine ,frame , I don't remember dump beds being built with boxes like those until the 1990's . That's a 67-68 front clip and you may find that it's a late model chassis with a chevy cab and front clip ? Need more pics . I'd like to have one like it .

It may be the picture but that's one heck of a long wheel base ?

A picture of the SPID label on the inside of the glove box door might help, if it has one....

It's also hard to tell if it has the raised pads on the roof for the clearance lights or not from the picture.

ill get some more when weather gets better. engine is a remanufacturer so not original. according to mortech its a 302,327,or 350. the partial VIN behind alternator has been wiped.

the front rotors are listed as possibly from a 75. They are huge bulky things and waiting on parts to confirm. but the rear shoes were 2.5 inches wide and the smaller drum. Im just starting to learn about thee trucks and it looks like mine may very well span the years with the older clip.

end the end shes going to work around the house so hodge podge is fine.

couldnt say. nothing on title or door jam. It will be a day or two before I can lift the bed again if there is any way of telling underneath.

so probably not a c30 but C3500?
that might be some of the trouble I have been having. it was listed as a chevy

Looks to me like the tool boxes and dump body are not from that era at all... I am thinking 80s on up for those. Also looks like the rims are not splits which it would have had unless someone changed that all over too..??? I am wondering if its a older cab and nose put un a later model chassis.????

two front and one rear are not, the rest(3) are split.

If you need more solid 16" buds I have at least 3 you can have I'm about an hour and a half from you let me know

thanks for the offer. Never had splits before so dont know much yet about the pros and cons of them. For now Ill just see what our local tire guy says about the rims when he sees them.

I know around here no one will change split wheel if that ring doesn't seat when you are airing the tire up it can fly off and cause serious injuries or death

That upper compartment behind the cab looks like it could be used as a mother in law apartment.

this has all been very useful. thanks to all. Judging by my rotors the Chassis seems to probably be in the range of 74-86. In time ill narrow it down I hope.

Just the front cross member could have been swapped also.

Do a search on Google images of dump truck with tool boxes and you will find some info.

a pic of the cab mounts on the frame will tell us if its a 67-72 or later chasis.

There was one very similar to yours for sale up here in the northwest a month or so ago.

Judging by your pics I'd say it a 67-72 frame none of the brackets are bolted on still has original rivets on cab mounts and there is no step up in the frame under the cab like the later square bodies had

Do you know much about these front rotors(pic related)
best I can tell they didn't start until 74-75.
Also Brakes shoes in rear are narrow(2.5inches) and self adjusting. Seems like they would have been the bigger ones unless like lok Doc said the cross member up front has been replaced?
