87 small block 350 oil leak?
I don’t have pictures but what could be leaking oil on the drivers side, like 3 inches above the filter on the side of the block. I just took a quick peak and I couldn’t really tell what it was, looked like a sensor of some sort.

That's the oil pressure sensor that feeds input to the gauge. I think there are two on those years. One that sends input to the dash, and one that sends input to the ECM.

Re: 87 small block 350 oil leak?
Story time...had an '87 350 original engine to the truck which had an oil leak only at speed. Would not leak at idle or sitting still with RPM. I started with all of the basic bolt-on stuff that appeared to be leaking; dist gasket, VC gaskets, oil pressure sensor, etc. No luck. Then I moved on to the big stuff which I actually pulled the engine for; oil pan, rear main, front seal, etc. I thought I'd be sitting pretty...wrong! I was going crazy with this leak because it was so hard to pinpoint. I did UV dye, cleaned, de-greased several times. At the end of my patience, on a hunch, I pulled each bell housing bolt individually and discovered that one was about .25" longer. I shined a light in that hole and what do you know, it had no bottom. The longer bolt had punched it through and oil was coming out around the threads, but only at speed. I sealed the bolt, all good! But man, never been so beat by an oil leak.

One is a sending unit and one is a switch
