2015-2017 Silverado 40/20/40 seats
Has anyone here put these in a 67-72 yet? I searched all the seat swap threads but found nothing on seats this new. I am looking to find out if anyone has a wiring diagram or knows which wires are needed to get the power seats working.
I’d just test them but the airbag in the seat has me a little gun-shy. Worst case I can pull the seat cover and remove the airbags then test I guess. |

Re: 2015-2017 Silverado 40/20/40 seats
I installed a set of katzkin covers in my 2015 Silverado. I also swapped the passenger seat from a manual seat to a power seat which included gutting and rewiring the seat with some of my old seat stuff so the airbags would talk to my BCM. Long story short, the seatback, lumbar, and lower seat power motors all plug together and form a harness that has one fat red + wire and one fat black - wire. Power and ground and they will work. The airbags can be unplugged and taken out.
That said, the seats are kinda big, I don't know if they're fit in a 67-72 very well?

Re: 2015-2017 Silverado 40/20/40 seats
That’s exactly the info I was looking for thank you!
When you say they are kinda big do you mean height or width? I agree they are tall, but width wise here are some pics of seats out of a 16’ Silverado sitting in front of the 40/20/40 bench shop4seats sells as a direct bolt in for 67-72 trucks. They are within a 1/2 of the width, and they are so much more comfortable, and they look like a quality seat not some cheesy aftermarket stuff |

Re: 2015-2017 Silverado 40/20/40 seats
They just look large to me. I've had my 67 forever, drove a 00Z71 for 11 years, and now have a 2015, the seats just look a lot bigger to me (fatter).
If you go with a katzkin kit (highly recommended) you can actually make the seats look a lot better in these old trucks by leaving the headrests off, you can remove the plastic clip for them and not cut the hole in the covers at the top. A C10 would look fantastic with leather seats.

Re: 2015-2017 Silverado 40/20/40 seats
The wires you called out work perfect, I have full movement. Thanks again!
I like your idea of recovering without headrests, I was going to recover in leather anyway. Here’s some pics of how they look in the cab with and without headrests. I think they fit perfect, and they look better without the headrests. Opinions? |

Re: 2015-2017 Silverado 40/20/40 seats
They look right at home in there!
Now you've got me thinking! If you have an ebay account, throw those airbags up on there and get some of your money back, it looks like they're worth some coin (just carefully unclip them at the top): https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...irbag&_sacat=0 There was also a couple sets of headrests, I'd be happy with half this amount: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-2015-2...5Z0qvw&vxp=mtr

Re: 2015-2017 Silverado 40/20/40 seats
I paid $650 for the seats. If I sell the airbags and headrests I might actually make money. Well those are ebay prices, Not sure anyone is paying that... but thanks for pointing it out, I will pull the airbags and sell them at that price.

Re: 2015-2017 Silverado 40/20/40 seats
Most people mean big by the front to back thickness in these cabs that many already complain are too tight. I hope these work out as you hope once you have a column and steering wheel. I'm 5'10" and a little less room wouldn't hurt my comfort. But I do keep the original seats set all the way back

Re: 2015-2017 Silverado 40/20/40 seats
I'm seeing integrated belts. Unless a vehicle is structured for that you have a significant risk in a accident of the seats either pulling out of the floor or pushing down through. Integrated belt seats are a horrible choice for vintage vehicles unless you have the knowledge and skills to properly adapt them. I engineer seat and belt installs in RV's and oversee the testing. I would not do it on my own vehicle when there are better choices available and there are.

Re: 2015-2017 Silverado 40/20/40 seats
Our trucks could be ordered with a shoulder harness and all of the needed attachment points are already there. Many vendors including some here on our forum have sets that bolt right in.

Re: 2015-2017 Silverado 40/20/40 seats
I've got a set from 2015 installed in my 67 cab (tank removed). They fit fine side to side and I powered them with a jumper from the cigarette lighter (just the two wires to get them moving). I did not mess with the airbags, idk if they should come out, but I just left them.
Seatbelts - I had already installed 3 point belts so I kept those working and ignored the integrated belts on each seat. The integrated latch side is actually just a pass-thru type that bolts to the seat frame. It would be nice to use as the release is well positioned; my 3 point release just flops around between the console. Console - bottom trim didn't fit once I bolted the console to the floor. Eventually I figure I'll need to build a base for it (when I finally get to installing carpet). Mounting - PO had installed a 78-ish bench and already drilled the floor. I used the two rear factory mounting holes/nuts and drilled new holes for the fonts (with big washers, ect.. I did cut off the front seat mounting holes that we're sticking out to the side and drilled new bolt holes directly thru the bottom of he slide channel. This kept them within the footprint of the stock bench. Eventually I think it would be better to fab a bracket across the entire floor so that I can patch the floor pan. Overall I really like the feel of the seats and appreciate the power adjustments. Without the headrest they look great in place. I am 6'4" my driver's seat is adjusted all the way back and a bit down (no tilt column). I can slide right in (stock height suspension) and everything is good for long drives. Highly recommend; I'm sure someone with better fab skills could make it work better, and leather covering would class it up, but I love it and won't be changing anything until I am ready to carpet the interior. |
