First post on this website.
Been looking for a '67-'72 short bed recently. Hadn't found anything remotely original that wasn't rusted out. Passed by a local small town tire shop the other day, and this was sitting under a tree off the parking lot. Owner said it ran good so a deal was made. After a weekend of cleaning the leaves, dirt, bird sh*t, etc off of it, it cleaned up pretty good.
Titled as 1970. Yeah I know the grill is wrong.
350 V8 TH 400. Was originally a 4 speed truck so rear diff is 4.11. Factory air cab, PS, PB. No major rust I can find. Cab corners, rockers, floor pans good. Body panels pretty straight, but needs a good paint job. Centerlines gotta go in favor of some 15x8 rally wheels.
Right now front calipers are sticking, so cannot drive it until that is fixed.

PDB was added by last owner many years ago.
Decoded the VIN - it's 1971 titled as a 1970. Is this any concern? Were 1971 built trucks sold at the end of 1970? Interested in what you guys think before I go to the DMV here in Arizona.
VIN is CE140Z1xxxx.
Special paint code is 1001FC. Everything I can see is WHITE.
Am replacing the brake calipers, rotors,lines and wheel bearings right now. Looking forward to finishing and seeing how it drives. It actually ran pretty good considering the front pads were dragging.

If the truck was already titled in AZ all you need is the title notarized by previous owner. You don’t need to even bring truck.
If it is a title from out of state, all you need is, it signed in correct area
No notary , and you don’t need to bring truck.

If you want DMV to title it correctly, You will have to go through with another step and have a Vin verification with truck present.
I just registered a 72 that was actually titled as 71.
The don’t even care. , or know it is incorrect,
I figured anyone who might buy the truck if I ever sell it, will also know what year it really is, by vin #
And it’s not worth the hassle of trying to get dmv to change it in their system

Nice find! If it’s truly a 70, the cab was also probably changed along with the front clip since the inside rear view mirror is attached to the windshield. Or that custom headliner is covering up the 1970 mirror mounting holes. Still nice though...

It's a 1970 according to the VIN and the plate on the inside of the door jamb. At least that number matches the title. Sticker in the glove box says 350 4 speed and matches the VIN. Late 70 production from what the net says.
Appears originally white exterior. I believe the interior may have been blue (door panels), but hard to tell.
Disc brakes were added by previous owner, as was PS.
Will take a look at the headliner and see if the mirror mounts are there. Are there any other identification numbers on the chassis or elsewhere?
Pulled the sill plates today to fix the fuel sender line. No rot, just a little rust. Even the cab corners are clean and free of rust. That's the stuff that matters most to me.
What's the SPID?
The crawler in the background is a 1947 Oliver OC3. I collect and restore vintage farm tractors.

At first glance I thought it might have been a John Deere 440, but on a second look, I could tell it was older. But I didn't even get the brand right, lol.

I don't believe I ever saw an Oliver crawler.

Here's the SPID. Some interesting data there. Posi rear? Gold cloth interior? Worm gear clamps?

C10 Bill - JD 435 pretty rare tractor. Those GM 2 stroke diesels have a unique howl. I have a 1957 420 slant steer that is my brush hog tractor.

Question - if the bumper and grill are 1971, is the sheet metal correct? Bumper is brand new, so would be a pity to start swapping things out at this stage.

The SPID is the sticker on the inside of the glovebox door. It’s an acronym for Service Parts IDentification. It lists all the options that the truck had when it was built. They are not always there.
I like it, looks like a solid truck. Nice to find one close to home.

Vin number can sometimes be found top of frame near steering box, also top of frame under drivers seat.
