Smile Hey guys...new to the site and Chevy trucks!

Hey everyone!

Found the site while doing a little research on a truck we just inherited (1980 C30 Custom Deluxe RCLB). Was my wife's grandfather's truck and has been in the family since new, being used for his concrete business and more recently to haul hay. As far as I can tell, it's completely stock and has never been wrecked or repainted, its only options being the 350, a/c, and maybe the radio. Not sure yet if it has the TH350 or 400 and might have an HD suspension since the rear leaf spring pack is pretty burly. She's been sitting for 4 years, but fired right up after a new battery, fuel filter, and fresh fuel/Seafoam mix. From what I can tell she's mostly rust-free; no cancer and only having the typical surface rust where the paint's been compromised.

Just placed a couple of orders with LMC and Classic Industries to fix some cosmetic things mainly in the interior, but plans are ultimately to drop her a little over the stock 16.5 steelies (keeping her 8-lug) with Western Chassis spindles and leaves, maintain the patina provided it doesn't get worse, and make her our weekend swap meet/junkyard/shop truck. Further plans include a 383/fuel injection/4L80E, but I've got other projects I'll probably want to finish first, like the LQ9-swap into the wife's '79 Camaro.

Pics to come once I get her home; will have to have her towed to my house this weekend where I can give her a tune-up and at least go through the brakes to confirm that she's safe to drive.

Great forum here....been drooling over all the members' truck pics for the last few days now and look forward to contributing

-Jose

Re: Hey guys...new to the site and Chevy trucks!

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys Found out that my upgraded AAA tow benefits have a 7 day grace period, so I'll be bringing her home this weekend instead and will have some pics up after giving her a good clean.

And a good friend of mine has a '70 K20 that looks a lot like the one in your avatar, 69CST. Been haranguing him for years to sell it to me, but he won't budge!
