87 Jimmy Seat Question
Can the bucket seat bottoms (not hardware) be switched side to side. My DS is flat and unsupportive but the PS is like new.

Re: 87 Jimmy Seat Question
Yep, left and right for the fittings/handles, etc. I can't find a link for seat foam bottoms to see if there are a left and right part number. Looking at them, they appear to be interchangeable and at least initially, the functional hardware seems to be specific to the L/R frame and not the seat foam/bottom. It appears even the uprights are interchangeable. I think it'll be a weekend project but I'd love to have some more knowledge before getting into the removal and disassembly of both seats......

Re: 87 Jimmy Seat Question
The seat bottom itself, once you get the bases, hardware, and backs off? You'd think they'd be the same. If you take them apart and find out different, at that point it'd be fairly cheap to drop off the drivers side and get the bottom built up some.

Re: 87 Jimmy Seat Question
Near as I recall should swap side to side.
You'll have funny hinge impressions but others wise just takes time. Easier way, if you don't have a center console is swap seats LH to RH. Leave the seat base where it is and swap LH seat to RH mount. Bolts right up Puts the recliner lever on inner side of seat but sounds like you're not too worried about that. Done it before so I have no shame in saying. Was for an adventure truck so served its purpose. |

Re: 87 Jimmy Seat Question
Done. Simple. Remove seats. Swap seat tracks. Put PS seat w/ DS track on DS side. Remove flopper forward cable and store in glove box. Put DS seat on PS track on PS side. Put on seat covers. Check function and console clearance. Done. Hardware and Bases and backs are L and R so this is the only way. But. Easy. Only loss of function is PS seat now only moves forward using the under seat lever. (by removingg the flopper cable the new DS feat won't move fwd on me in an accident)
