Wiper Question?
My wipers were not working at all when I got the truck. The switch was real sticky like it had not been used in some time. I got it freed up but then nothing out of the motor(no movement). It did however make a slight noise like it was trying to work when I would turn the switch on/off. After screwing around with it for awhile and hoping it would work, it has started to work now. My question is the wiper motor kinda loud? I have never heard it before but it seems kinda noisy to me. Any imput would be appreciated. Don't get me wrong not complaining just wondering if I may still need to replace it or something. Im just glad to have some wipers now that the rain is on the way. Also I am stoked that our site is back up too....

im not sure what the tomer are, but I lubricated all that I could that is exposed under the cowl. It seems to be mainly the motor itself that is noisy. Also now noticing that it changes speeds as it goes sometimes going up/down in speed kinda likes its trying to catch up or something. And is the outside case of the motor get really hot. Cuz I touch the damn thing not realizing it would be that hot....

Now it seems to have trouble getting started to go when I let it sit for a few minutes with the wipers off. It's starting to sound like they may not work again if I let them sit for a few hours. Im gonna give it a shot and see what happens. Any imput is appreciated, I think i may be in the need of a good motor, but not sure.
thanks, Ron

I just replaced my wiper motor after it burnt up (smoke filled cab) and the new one is louder than the old, unforuntaly I think that may just be the "character" of having an old truck.

Ok, I let it sit for a little over an hour. And just like I thought it wouldn't go, well it barley started to move and took a few minutes to get up to operating speed? What do you think? It doesn't sound good. Let me know what you think may need a good used one?
thanks

I'd power it staight from the battery first. If it runs fine then you know you have a switch, wiring, or ground problem. If it's still slow I'd disconnect the linkage from the motor and move that independently. If it seems pretty free, change the motor. (Might want to replace the washer pump while your at it as you'll have it out and it will be a lot easier then.) Good luck.
