Dave, That's a very nice truck and a top quality job on the restoration.
I have a question after seeing the BJ page. Did they get the VIN right? The reason I ask is the VIN is for a Fremont truck and the firewall is lettered up like a St. Louis truck. Maybe they misread the S as a Z?

Dave can you give me a link to your build thread on that truck. I've never seen a Fremont truck with so many assembly line marks.

Re: found my old bigblock i built. 71 hugger
Fremont trucks usually just had a job number(last 3 digits) written in the firewall recess.
Here is some Fremont info that a restorer like you would be interested in. Fremont built straight through. Meaning no shuffling occurred before or after body shop. Because of this a interesting item often shows up on Fremont trucks. Most of the Fremont trucks have the cab stamped with the last 3 digits of the PVI number after the cab is built(before it's painted). After paint they wrote the last 3 digits of the GA number in grease pencil in the firewall recess. Because no shuffling occurred before or after body shop the PVI number and the GA number are the same. So the stamped number and the grease pencil number are the same. Here is a pic of a Fremont truck showing what I'm saying. Another interesting thing about Fremont, some of their painters signed their work with a initial on the firewall. Two workers painted the cab so these trucks have two different initials on them. Not all Fremont trucks are signed. Here are some examples.

Re: found my old bigblock i built. 71 hugger
Hey Dave, I've been looking at some of your builds and, boy oh boy, you sure do some very nice top quality work. I'm going to be checking out more of your builds for sure.
On the truck that you linked in this thread, Does this cab go with this SPID. I got these pics from your "1971 factory short, big block, complete nos restoration" thread and is this the finished truck

Re: found my old bigblock i built. 71 hugger
Dave, I just found a 1972 project hugger build thread. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=371685 Your 72 must be a St. louis truck. Maybe you lettered the 71 Fremont truck to match the 72 hugger St. Louis truck??? Just curious and it helps my research on the assembly line markings at the various plants. Thanks for your time on this.
