Is this common on a 1/2 ton long bed?
So I pulled up the mat in the bed and was surprised to see this. Is it common on a 70 cst longbed 1/2 ton?

It definitely blew me away. Gonna crawl under it today and see how it's attached.

Re: Is this common on a 1/2 ton long bed?
I have a fold down gooseneck hitch in my V3500. Due to the weight of most gooseneck trailers, I wouldn't think it's very common in a half ton.

I have broke down back and knees so I haven't been able to check it yet. My nephew is coming over to do the dirty work. The bed doesn't look warped so I'm thinking it's attached well. 48 years of surprises😐😐

Looks like a nice installation so I'm betting it is bolted or welded to both sides of the frame rails..... LockDoc

Re: Is this common on a 1/2 ton long bed?
I’ve got one in my C 20, someone just bolted it on to a piece of thick steel plate in center of bed. Bent the floor up pretty good...

Re: Is this common on a 1/2 ton long bed?
So wasn't able to get under to look today. So, maybe a stupid question, could I have a 1/2 ton cab on a 3/4 frame? What's the easiest way to tell? It is a 6lug. I'm a little green about a some of this.

All 3/4t are 8 lug and the VIN would have a 2 for the third digit.

Ok so it's definitely a 1/2 ton. Thanks for the help. Gonna try and get a look underneath tomorrow. I'll get pics.

I couldn't get any pics but it's definitely welded/bolted in pretty good. I think I'm gonna keep it but obviously not use it. Adds character.
