American autowire 67 stepside
I have a 67 stepside. Just installed the American autowire complete kit. The only thing I’m questioning about is my backup lights. American had 2 wires that run to the neutral safety switch. A green and a pink. Now the pink is saying that it’s a 12v ignition. Which it seems that it should be hot when the key is on. Well we were checking the rear wires to make sure they all were working properly. The backup lights didn’t. Well I put my test light on the pink wire and there’s no fire going to it. Am I missing something here? Shouldn’t it be hot if the keys on?

On my AAW wiring kit the back up light wire is light green and the neutral safety switch wire is purple

Neutral safety switch is only hot in the cranking position.

Re: American autowire 67 stepside
Maybe they have their wires crossed.

It could be that AAW's harness used the pink wire from the fuse panel instead of the light green wire. The stock harness used the pink wire from the ignition switch junction to the fuse panel for all the key on power circuits not powered by the 12 gauge brown accessory wire from the key switch. Here you can see the fuse panel where the dark green wires come into the fuse and leave to go to the NSS. They are next to the pink and red feed wires. You may have to pull the fuse panel off it's mount and look at the backside to see how the wires are connected.
