Suburban questions
I found a rear bench for my 72 suburban.
Did the 72 come with either folding or bench or was it only bench. I am going to have to have it upolstered, does anyone sell a premade cover for it so I can do it my self. I do not believe my front seat to be correct, can someone post a pic of the mounting frame so that I can compare. Thanks for all your help, this is a great place. Mike

I believe you can get new re-pop upholstery covers for Suburbans. They are different from trucks because they have material covering the back of the seats.
None of the seats should fold and front bucket seats or bench seats were available. You also had a choice of a full sized middle seat(6 passenger) or a shorter mid seat so you had access to 3rd row seating(9 passenger). Short 2nd and 3rd seats are the same as the blazer rear seat (except for the longer front legs on the 2nd seat). I had taken pictures of burb seat brackets for BIG ORANGE. I'll see if they are of any use to you. Watch for them in your email if I don't have them posted someplace. ------------------ 1971 C-10 Suburban 1972 C-10 Suburban 1969 XL Galaxie Fastback 1968 Galaxie 500 Fastback 1974 SCOUT II Montrose, Minnesota

That was exactly what I wanted to know. A pic would help. I got the short mid seat.

Is there any way to install a folding rear seat out of a different vehicle? I could really use the bed space.

I tried installing a '73-'87 folding seat rig in my '67 Sub, but had a few problems. The loose seats came with the truck when I bought it. The cushions were too stufffed to fold completely flat on the middle deck and the P/O had lost the sidewall brackets that the outboard seat backs latch into. Also the homemade side [luan] paneling was shot and too flimsy to mount catches any way, so I just used it as a carryall for tools, spare tire, beanbag chair, camping gear, hammock etc. I think it's do-able, I just didn't have the engineering skills to make it so.
It's still a cool idea and I may try again once I get that beast running. [This message has been edited by '68OrangeSunshine (edited March 31, 2002).]

The covers are made and we do carry them in our upholstery section. http://www.gmcpaulstruckparts.com/Upholstery67.htm
They cost a little more than the pickup one since they have a full back but its a do-it-yourself kit.
