Somebody needs this
No, it's not a truck. But it's just what a guy with just the right '72 (or 67-72) needs as an accessory/buddy car/partner to the truck, or '72 package. I saw right through those wheels to the car, and then read wheels can be cut out of the deal with factory tires/wheels available. Big daddy cruisemobile for those times you want to rest the truck
EDIT: See car in post #13 https://lasvegas.craigslist.org/cto/...601827356.html I figured if it doesn't belong it will get moved. But I always liked the idea of having a pair of same year Chevy car/truck. I know some here do. Any other talk of 67-72 car/67-72 truck combos owned or dream combos is welcome here

Re: Somebody needs this
Another 1972.....?....never thought of that before.
I'm not sure what else I would pick out of GM's line up in 1972. A 2dr hardtop 454 caprice would be nice....or a 454 Chevelle....or maybe an '72 Olds 442 or GS455....also the boat tail early Rivieras were quite a car...but a big car. It was also the last year for a corvette that had any reasonable style in my opinion....even with the increasingly smog motor element. Interesting. The first I would do with that convertible tho'....is sell all of those wheels and tires within the first 15 minutes, lol.....and at a $25k asking price it will be around for a while I think, no rush. All good Coley

Re: Somebody needs this
I have my wife's 72 Malibu Convertible that looks much better than that but it seldom gets driven anymore since her death . I have a truck buddy that likes to drive it for me though.

Re: Somebody needs this
That car has the "scissor top frame " the top gear boxes are usually wasted and most guy's who install tops have no idea how to install that top on that car ! it's a boat, for $25,000 I'd buy a C-3 or better yet a C-6 Vette convertible

Re: Somebody needs this
I am able to look right past those wheels and see the car. The listing says wheels don't have to go with it. So to me those wheels are not even in the picture. Yeah $25k is a lot, probably too much, same as a truck for that much. You can buy some damn nice cars for less than what many trucks go for... really nice valuable cars. You won't see a half dozen others like this at every show you go to, like a truck.
I was wanting a '71 Monte Carlo for my wife (before we married) to go with the '71 K/20 and Blazer I had when I found a '63 Riviera. I came to realize the Riviera was the car that started what the Monte Carlo came out of and bought it. I'd like this car with a 454 better, but I love the 400 and it was the Chevy big car & truck motor. '67 has always been the last year Impala for me. Never likes them after that. But this car caught my eye and I have been thinking more about these just for what they are. If it was built to go along with the trucks in the line-up that year, it's ok by me

Re: Somebody needs this
I'm amazed those wheels fit without the ridiculous lift job those people do. Funny how wheels can be the focus on a vehicle. I feel 1/2 the guys out there are into the wheels and the vehicle is just something to put them on. Like instead of 'Chevy' fans there are 'Donkey Donk Hoopty Wheelz' fans. Instead of 'Chevelle' being the favorite, 'Roundz' are and when the enthusiast sees a vehicle they wonder "How would my Roundz be lookin' on dat"

I'd drive it. Wheel swap is definitely in order, but I'd DD that. I love the big boats, haven't owned one yet though.

Re: Somebody needs this
I was thinking Cragar S/S's with spinners, but the car is so big they'd probably end up looking small on it. Like it or not, we're getting used to seeing 17" to 20" wheels on everything. The wheels that are on the car would probably look great if they were just a smaller size. I think those might be 24's. Scale them back to 20" or maybe 18" and the car would look more mainstream.

Re: Somebody needs this
Side question... How do you guys pronounce Impala? I grew up hearing it like "pal" was in the middle and never knew anything different until some of west coast shops built a few on TV and I started hearing Impahla. Am I letting my hick roots show?

Probably did. The car in post #13 is the one we're talking about.

Re: Somebody needs this
google link was a mile long, but it as well as the two I posted all played an audio pronunciation for me..
two women's voices and a man's all 'pal' my apologies if it's not working for others.. but my litmus test for these types of queries is; do I know what the speaker is saying, however they pronounce it? and although I rocked one of these for few years back in the 90's, they're really not my favorites in any year.. btw, I always called them im-paw-la

I worked for a woman born in the '20s and brought up very proper (propa). When I would mention the town in Maryland the way I have heard it 'in Maryland' my whole life, she would correct me the way her father would her. The town is Havre De Grace. So that's French, right? Well I'm not and this ain't France. I feel we pronounce it the way it reads... Haver-de-grace. She would correct me and saw it's, "Hava De Grah", and I'd tell her that's how to say it in French, this is America. Then I'd ask her how her dad pronounced 'Paris'. Good one, ey? I am absolutely positive her dad did not pronounce it as 'Pay-REE', the way the French would say it. And I'm sure his cars weren't made in Daytroy, MI either Here's how Eddie said it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLas7sRnmX8 Like I said, these cars never appealed much to me. That's because when they came out I didn't like them as much as what came before. But looking at them now it is different. I like their style way more than things newer, but the big thing is that these are what America did best, the last of the large turnpike cruisers that came in the late-50s. The big boats. Cars started downsizing and the big hood and deck lid cars became a thing no longer done. The other thing is convertible tops stopped being offered. So no more big honkin' drop tops like this one were offered for years. I remember the big deal being the Labaron conv. in the '80s. It was like the only one, which came out a while after any had been available. New businesses opened just to do convertible top conversions through those years. A '70s fullsize convertible today is a cool segment of classic car. You can hop in them and go. Funny nobody missed O/D in these cars either!
