Gas tank filler neck question

Just bought a new filler neck gasket, aaaaand it doesn't fit right. It's a 70 truck so I bought the 67-70 gasket but it's slightly to big for the filler neck but fits the body fine. Is the 71-72 gasket bigger or smaller (as in they sent the wrong one) or is this just a cheap junk gasket?

Maybe your tank has been replaced at some point in it's life.... I thought there was only one size but I'm not 100% sure.

Re: Gas tank filler neck question

That looks kind of strange the way it is fat near the tank, then gets skinny and then fat again at the cap. On my old and replacement 1969 tanks it was the same size all the way from the tank to the cap.

There are two neck sizes shown in the LMC catalog.
