Tips on removing the bed.
'69 LB. I know there's been tons of posts on this topic, but thought I ask also for any latest tips and ideas, especially from anybody who has done it recently. Can I use a 1 ton engine hoist??
From the back or side with or w/o tailgate?? And how did you do it?? I'll be using an engine hoist. Thanks. And again, sorry for the question again. |

Re: Tips on removing the bed.
Build an "H" pattern 4x4 adapter to fit under the bed rails, attach a chain to the center of the "H" and lift away. Lift from rear if your hoist fully extended reaches, from the side if it isn't long enough.

Re: Tips on removing the bed.
Long side of the "H" a couple feet apart. Move the adapter front to rear to find the balance point of the bed.
I have done the lift with straps or chains but its a pain in the butt to find the balance point |

Re: Tips on removing the bed.
to me the easiest and safest way is get a friend and pick it up. If you are really worried about the weight get 3 friends. I do understand that some people do the majority of their work alone but I always pull and mount beds this way and have never damaged one.

Re: Tips on removing the bed.
You, 3 buddies and a 12 pack of beer will get the job done.
I did it with just one other buddy (and a 12 pack) when we removed the longbed off of my 1972 sans tailgate. Gary
