3 hoses on top of gas tank??

i have 3 rubber hoses that come out of the gas tank and one of them is not hooked to anything. the truck still runs but im sure this hose is there for a reason. it looks like it is the middle one v=but i cant tell for sure right now i can check better in the morning.
do any of you know where this hose is supposed to go and will it damage anything by not having it on there

thanks
stan

Stan,

If you have 3 hoses, they would be out to the pump, return from the pump, and one to the charcoal canister. My guess is that you don't have the canister or it's no longer hooked up correctly?

Yea, If its unhooked its the one that goes to the canister. If it was any other one gas would pour out on the ground or you're truck wouldn't run.

you can hook it up if you want to its only to divert fumes to the cannister instead now it vents into the air. i have the same problem wiht mine and i dont care either way so i let it hang there as long as the two important ones are ok no problem
