Making a fleetside into a short bed
I have a line one a pretty good 67 short bed (bed only). I have the fleetside.
Does anyone know how much trouble it would be to convert it? Is the wheelbase the same? |

Re: Making a fleetside into a short bed
Fleetside and stepside are styles, not lengths. Either can be short or long. If you currently have a longbed, then a shortbed will require cutting or replacing the frame.

Re: Making a fleetside into a short bed
I realized that, and came back to fix the post. Sorry. I have the long bed and want to change it to a short bed. Both fleet side.
I don't mind cutting the frame if the wheel base is good! |

Re: Making a fleetside into a short bed
The wheelbase won't be good. This is where a LWB and a SWB vary, in the WB. You definitely will be cutting the frame

Re: Making a fleetside into a short bed
It's very easy to do with you have moderate skills and tools.
Check out this video Brothers kit makes it very easy. You take 12" out of frame under bed and 8" off the end of the frame Weld frame yourself o have a muffler shop do it. Have shop cut, weld and balance driveshaft 12" shorter New rear brake lines, shorten fuel line. Etc. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uSkcJsgCW68
