Antenna location

My 71 GMC has the factory location of the antenna on the drivers side. Is this Odd???? I never see others with it on the drivers side. Seems odd to me not that it really matters, just curious if others have it on the drivers side of the cowl also.....

Re: Antenna location

My '67 K/10 Suburban has the AM/FM antenna on the Drivers Side. But I put it there, because I had a CB whip antenna on the Passenger Side rear, and I didn't want them to interfere. It had no factory radio antenna when I bought it. The PO had installed an Alpine AM/FM Cassette deck, but radio reception was poor. I don't remember what he used for an antenna.

Re: Antenna location

usually the radio antenna is on the passenger side to avoid interferance (noise)with all the electrical stuff on the driver side. Often the cb antenna would be attached on the drivers side but it to is affected by the electronic noise from all around the drivers dash. Antenna's should be far away from that and from each other.

Re: Antenna location

I've never seen a factory installed radio with the antenna on the left. If your truck still has a SPID on the glovebox door, is a radio on the list?
