Welcome to the site. Can you elaborate on ‘not working’ - ie no sound or just static? Regardless, you’d want to ensure the speaker is connected and that the material is not all torn up or deteriorated. Stock speaker?

Thanks. So no sound at all. Sounds like you folks think the speaker is dead. Ill check that out first.

The thing is there is no way to tell if the radio is working without a known good speaker...... LockDoc

Re: 1971 C20 radio nt working
Ok, So it eliminated the speaker by using a known good speaker and proved the old speaker is in fact dead.
Now when i turn the radio on, I get static but only when I turn the volume constantly. And i never tunes to a station. I followed the antenna instructions and tuned to 700/1400 and attempted to "trim the antenna" no luck. Thoughts? Thanks JD |

Re: 1971 C20 radio nt working
My understanding is that the radio must be grounded and the speakers connected to work.
If they are not the internal damage may result. |

I think they need to be 8-10 ohm speakers or the radio can be damaged but I'm no audio guru.... LockjDoc

The radio is in the truck, grounded and 8ohm speakers. Were getting closer. I suspect the tune is old/dirty.
