Heater valve question
I’m trying to attach a pic of what I think is the valve that is supposed to be activated by the hot/cold lever on the dash. I don’t think mine is hooked up right but that is ok. I just want to set it in whatever position is cold so no coolant is flowing to the heater core. In this pic the lever appears to be in the “out” position. The “in” position move it in only about 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Anyone know which setting closes this valve?

Re: Heater valve question
Valve in pic closes with vacuum applied. Its currently in the open position Looks like maybe there is no vacuum line going to it. There is a vacuum port attached to the hot cold lever on the dash that dictates whether the valve gets the vacuum it needs to close. You can chase down the vacuum lines and get it all working properly or just replace the existing valve with one that you open and close manually like the one below

Re: Heater valve question
I believe when you move the top lever all the way to the left, it closes the valve and sets the re-circulation stuff. There is a vent door on the pass side floor board that opens. On top of the HVAC box under the hood, there is a flap that closes to pull air from inside rather than outside.

Re: Heater valve question
Any auto parts store would have them. Heres one from Napa. https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BK_6601414
The size can be 5/8 or 3/4 depending on which hose you choose to put it. The original is on the 5/8 line. |

Re: Heater valve question
Thanks. Probably a good time to flush the radiator also while I'm doing that-its been a very long time.... Anyone know the capacity for a coolant stock system with a 350?
