factory option code help
OK, I found a partial build sheet on the 1970 I started dismantling over the weekend. I don't have a book the tells me what these codes may mean, does anyone know?
F51 - H/D F&R ? DG4 - W/C J ? M38 - 3 ? There are others, but not enough of the build sheet to figure out what they might be. Have to tell you this though. This truck has the G60 AUX/(helper) mono leaf springs in the rear,and they are very sleek and cool looking indeed! (gonna keep those) |

I have some of the factory codes listed on my website. Check and see if they match what you have?

F51 - H/D F&R ?
DG4 - W/C J ? M38 - 3 ? Hmmm, the F51 H/D F&R...the F&R part means front and rear...HD is heavy duty...either looking at shocks or springs. The DG4 will be the west coast jr mirrors. No clue on the last one. I don't have my books here. |

arent all M prefixed RPO's for trannies? but i'm still not sure what M38 is.

after a bit of sniffing on the web, it looks like i was sorta right.
the 3 should prolly be 3 speed automatic? the rpo is for a TH350 from what I found

I dunno...I've had M49 stand for TH350.
Also TH400...I don't know if that was ever solved or not... |

my parts book says that F51=front and rear shock absorbers
DG4=west coast mirror-jr stainless steel but I couldn't locate to other one |

M38 = 2 speed automatic trans. - TH350
F51 = HD shock absorber equip - front and rear DG4 = 6 X 11 West coast mirror - 2 sides M49 = 3 speed automatic trans. - TH400

TH350 is a 3 speed...2 speed would be a powerglide.

I could not find the M38 rpo in 1970 but in 1969 it is listed as Transmission, 3 speed auto. Turbo Hydra-Matic for El Camino only. This is from Chevy truck ID Numbers 1946 - 1972 book.
