Stock to Dual Exhaust Starter Routing
I searched quite a ways back and I didn't find what I'm needing help with. Im thinking of taking out my stock Y-pipe single exhaust and running true duals. The passenger side down pipe is shaped around the starter and has a pretty deep depression to clear the starter. Does anyone have pictures of how the routed their dual exhaust down pipe? Will I have to replicate the indention to clear the starter? This is for a 70 c10 with 350 and TH 350 trans and rams horns. I'm not going the high toque mini-starter route. I have no idea how to make this work or even how to direct my local muffler shop. Any suggestions or examples? I'm stuck.
Thanks!! |

Pretty much down and back, then an angle at the bottom. I don't remember an indentation in my old exhaust system with the factory manifolds, but that had a 2" pipe.

Re: Stock to Dual Exhaust Starter Routing
I have the exact setup as you. Installing a mini starter will eliminate any interference with down pipe. After removing the original style starter I would never go back to that big heavy Delco type. Many advantages with high torque mini. Weight, cost and simplicity of instillation.....

Re: Stock to Dual Exhaust Starter Routing
I have the same 350/350 setup on a 72 LWB C10 and took mine to a muffler shop and told them I wanted true duals from the rams horns back. I have a normal starter and they did what I asked and I had an H pipe added as well. Sorry I do not have a hoist or I'd post pics for you.

Re: Stock to Dual Exhaust Starter Routing
Here is how I had the exhaust exit the truck.I wanted the pipes a little further back to look like the pipes on the black truck but because of the factory auxiliary spring set up that's as far as they could go. The link is what I use for mufflers and it gave me the sound I wanted. We can't post videos on here but if you want to hear mine running PM me your personal email address and i'll send you a video of the truck running. The mufflers are sideways under the truck. In case the link just takes you to the site i used part number 17747 on my truck.
