1969 c-20 : Carpet or rubber mat ?

The carpet in my '69 Chevy is ready to be replaced, I'm thinking about the rubber mat replacement... any pro's or con's with replacing the carpet with the rubber ?

Thanks !

Re: 1969 c-20 : Carpet or rubber mat ?

I bought ACC carpet, nylon loop with high-hump (Auto / Column Shift) and no/fuel tank from RockAuto for $114 + S&H. I did look for 1969 C20, it's listed for your C20 application. Interior, Flooring.
I choose #12 Dark Saddle, but they have a couple of greens for you photo truck.

It has a sewn vinyl edge where it counts, molded and comes with decent padding. You can go to ACC's website, click and look, but better yet, choose a couple of numbers and get free 1 1/4" sample to you door. You can get floor matts from the same color & material. They offer logo's also, but a little pricey for me...but not for Santa!!!

You can get the same color in yards from ACC. A yard is 58" wide and 3' X what you want. I think I got 2 yards delivered for $48 dollars. I sew and have a commercial Juki lock-stitch machine, and made kick panels and back cab wall panel where tank used to be. Formed some aluminum trim to fit tank bolts to go from corner to corner. Looks good!

I wish the vinyl mat was a little larger, but ok. They claim it is factory type.
I would suggest you check into it!

I have only the original rubber mat in my 69. It can be a little slippery when wet, but not that bad. I would assume it's louder than a carpet though. I'll eventually put a carpet (with the sound deadening backer) in for that reason.

The replacement rubber matts are all crap.
I had a factory original that lasted about 30 years. I got a replacement from LMC, it fit OK, but started shredding after 5 years.

I used the thick Poly Vinyl floor in my 72 and plan on another in my 70 short step . Easy to clean and looks great after all these years , I hate carpet in a truck .

For my '70 shortbed stepside, I got off Amazon BedRug Bed Mat BMX00D fits 66" X 98" UNIVERSAL UNIVERSAL SIZE. I really like it.

Re: 1969 c-20 : Carpet or rubber mat ?

Ive purchased the rubber mats for my last two K20s. Zero problems with poor quality. Even fit nicely over hump area. I believe I got them from the two local vendors. One from Pickemup and one from Classic Heartbeat.

I get that carpet looks nice (only if you keep it nice) and it has sound deadening qualities. But you can put heat and sound stuff down under a rubber mat too. I don't know about slippery, I don't stand up in my cab, never been a problem. So easy to keep clean, just a little whisk broom and its clean. Don't worry about spills or stains either.

Its a personal preference thing. So far my trucks have been used as trucks and aren't show pieces. So its mats for me.

Thumbs up Re: 1969 c-20 : Carpet or rubber mat ?

I'm debating this issue now for the ramp truck cab. I think it's going to get the mat. I don't want the normal stuff. I like the diamond plate mat that mosel70 posted is what I'm thinking. 4' wide 7' long is more than enough to do what I want.
It's cheap enough and will wipe off easy plus it's soft so my feet want get fatigued as I'm driving!

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
