Found an 86 square body donor for crossmember swap
Okay I found an 86 square body 1/2 ton donor for my 65. It’s a 305 truck. I want to use the front crossmember and all the steering brakes etc. The motor mounts. Probably the steering column if it has tilt. I’m wanting 5 bolt and will convert the rear. I’ll rebuild everything and add drop spindles. I’ll buy new rotors. I understand they came in different thicknesses? The thicker is better? I can convert to whatever thickness I want as long as I buy the drop spindles for the matching thickness?

It will likely be 1 1/4 thick rotors. The 1" are rarer. They use different caliper/brake lines.

Yes if you are going with dropped spindles, it does not matter whether the truck has 1" or 1.25" thick rotors. You will just need new calipers for the 1.25" rotors.
