HELP what am I doing wrong

I’m trying to put a new roof skin on, I’ve watched the video of clamping and glueing ok but the fit up I can’t get right. If both corners align the center is a mile off, one corner and center the other corner is a mile off. I have tried everything I and think of short of removing the seam along the back.

You may have to fit the corners and tack in place. Then work you way back and forth to get the center.

Re: HELP what am I doing wrong

Ya tried that, the middle is 1/2 inch up. For a repop this one is the worst I’ve had to work with. Even the doors where a better fit

Re: HELP what am I doing wrong

That is my problem the center. The rain gutters seem ok maybe a bit over size but not binding or pinching. The front has lots of room to move. I’m almost thinking if I cut the rib out of the skin to relax it then weld vis glue

take some pie cuts out of the back edge that goes down the back side and see if it will let the middle bow more

Re: HELP what am I doing wrong

I did do some which make the corners fit better, it almost seems the center is to long about 1/4 to 3/8 an inch making it bid

Re: HELP what am I doing wrong

its aftermarket panel you have to work it and the seam sealer will hide some of it or you can take cut off wheel and slice it and move the center in and weld it back together

True, except this is the body line which runs side to side so no seam sealer

Re: HELP what am I doing wrong

if your going to weld it a cross the back you can just cut the back edge off in the canter and weld it and that will let you get the out edges to fit and your done
