rear end removal
Question.
I need to get the rear end out of my parts truck tomorrow. If I jacked up the frame at the back of the truck, wouldn't it be possible to remove the trailing arms where they pivot, disconnect the coil springs and panhard bar, then (once the brake lines are disconnected) roll it out, sort of like a wheel barrow? I'll need to move it around, and this seems the easiest way to make it moveable. Does this sound nuts, or do-able? Also, Let me add that both rear tires are flat, so I intend to get them off the rims, the put the rims back on for the "rolling" around the driveway. |

Do you have an oxy-acetylene torch? If not your probably gonna have a booger of a time unbolting all that stuff.
Your idea should work, but I wouldn't plan on saving any of bolts.

The way you are planning on removing the rear end works very well and you can move it easily once you get the assembly out.
The front bolts come out pretty easy if you have large wrenches, the panhard disconnects ok, but the upper spring bolts are usually very difficult, and we torch them out. You will have to disconnect the rubber brake line and the e-brake cables. Good luck! Jim |

I do have LARGE wrenches, and there is really no rust on this truck at all. Every bolt has come of very easily, most without even any WD40...so it should be alright. I dealt with those upper spring bolts on my driver, so I know how they are...and at least on these California trucks, not all that bad!
