Gas rotting rubber fule line
I heard that California gas causes rubber fule line to rot. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this. I have braded stainless fule line. Should I be worried?

Re: Gas rotting rubber fule line
The gas with ethanol will speed up that process of breaking down rubber and other elastomers that it comes in contact.

Re: Gas rotting rubber fule line
Ethanol-gas is known to do that.
Marvel Mystery oil added when you get home from a fill-up or other equal gas additives may help slow the process down.

Re: Gas rotting rubber fule line
I used PFTE lined braided fuel hose. *Supposedly* resistant to ethanol and other additives. Summit, and just about everyone carries it.

Re: Gas rotting rubber fule line
You could use Nitrile, maybe that would help.

Re: Gas rotting rubber fule line
I have not seen any leaking yet and have been using that fuel line for around 5 or more years. But I have heard stories so it made me nervous.

Re: Gas rotting rubber fule line
chlorinated polyethylene
I would think all modern fuel hose would have to be resistant to Ethanol. It's been in the gas around here for at least 15 years.

Re: Gas rotting rubber fule line
I have the owner's manual for my '87 and '88 model cars and they both state that it's safe to run 10% ethanol in them. Fuel line has been ethanol resistant for quite a while. Most of the "ethanol destroys" hype has been from people who leave ethanol gas in their cars/lawn equiptment/boats for long periods of time and the water absorbed by ethanol does damage. I've run e10 in everything I own since I started driving and have never had the first ethanol related problem. The carbs even look new inside 75k miles later...
