OT Need help on my scout head

I got a new head for my scout and bolted it on and low and behold the pistons hit the head. There is about an 1/8" difference in the circumference in the combustion chambers between the old head and the new one. Can I just carve this out with a die grinder or should I look for another head?
Keep in mind it took a lot of work to even get this head, and there are about a thousand slightly different castings. Some castings have smaller runners, smaller valves, smaller combustion chamers, or any combination of those.
BTW this is a slant four 196ci on my '67 scout 800.
Thanks for the help.

Do they make thicker head gaskets? Might not get all of the 1/8th inch but it could save you a little work?

Thats not the problem. The problem is that the piston is 4"(not an exact figure) and it comes out of the deck 1/4" on the dome side. The combustion chamber is only 3 7/8". So th piston is bigger around than the hole it goes into.

I think there's an International Harvester-specific website with the title "Cornbinders" or something like that. A buddy of mine's got a couple of slant 4 152s, he's working on for his '61 and '64 Scouts. His pistons look weird, radically angled and a "bite" out of the lower side.
