what motor?
Hi
I have a 1971 3/4 4X4 and i am having trouble deciding what to do about the motor. I am going to swap a "good" body over to the frame. It is a 4 speed and has a 205 case. I was orginally going to put a used motor into it, but have started thinking that maybe i want something more reliable. The truck will be a farm truck, and daily driver. Should i put a used motor in it? Should i invest in a cheap crate motor or should i have one rebuilt? Thanks for the help. David

For the money a crate with warranty is probably the way to go.

I'm with krue...
I don't trust used engines, and you can get a crate engine for close to the cost of a rebuild. All new parts and a warranty -

If you are carefull, and do the proper testing, a junk yard $100 engine can last you many years and many many thousands of miles.
But if the cash is there, it is probably a better idea to get a new engine. Rebuilt 350 long blocks can be had for less than $1000. |
