Dash lights not coming on

Sometimes when i turn my lights on, my dash lights won't come on. My turn and bright indicators light up, but nothing else. And when I turn my brights on, the indicator goes off. I used to be able to remedy this problem with a little "tap" on the dash, but not anymore. Any suggestions on what to do?

Thanks in advance for any and all info.

Sounds like you might have some corrosion on the printed wiring that is on the back of your cluster about the only way to get at it is to pull the whole cluster out and try cleaning it up mine was green in several places did some cleaning and now works fine.

The main connector plug may be slightly out of placke or the wires are loose. Try wiggling the the main connector. It may also be your headlight switch or a short somewhere. Lots of wiring to check so start now!

I posted this exact problem 2 weeks ago about my 85. I know dashes VERY well and i have tried everything mentioned plus a few other things , like replacing the headlight switch, and mine won't come back. If you positively find the problem let me know.
my circuit and wiring are very clean and in great shape. I also reached up and made sure the connector was firmly in. Nuttin- it's real cool :-( when i turn on the 4 ways some of the gauges do a little dance for me. DAVE

That still sounds like a printed cicuit problem try removing the lights that go to your blinkers and see what it does. I may have one laying around I could send you if you want it.
