Mystery Hole?
Earlier this month I decided to change my wheel hub to a later model because of the better bearings. My factory OEM drums we're riveted to the hubs.l, after grinding the rivets down I used a hammer to tap the drum/hub to separate the parts. After speaking to another truckers we got to wondering why the drums had a special hole in them? Any of you purest know the answer? See picture.

Re: Mystery Hole?
Does that bent down tang need to sit in a hole in the hub? Is it there so the drum is installed the same each time? Probably wrong

Re: Mystery Hole?
Don't know Drako, I was thinking along the lines of alignment at the assembly line, but the lug bolt would have aligned them, kinda strange. The new from do not have this. They had to be a reason or the factory would have not bothered to make it so (stating the obvious-unfortunetly).

Did the hub have an indication? Like a corresponding hole? Anything?

Re: Mystery Hole?
On the original '60 hubs, they had a hole. On the new 63 hubs they do not and the new drums do not have this hole/Tang.
